We extend a hearty welcome to you and your four-legged friend in the Hohwacht Bay / Lake Selent holiday region. Hohwacht Bay / Lake Selent offers visitors who would like to spend a relaxing holiday with their dogs, wonderful paths for walking in addition to the official dog beaches. The paths lead past thatched cottages, large oak trees, Holstein's hedgerows, rape fields, meadows and lakes. Our countryside is very rich in game. Look out for cranes, roe deer, wild geese, and seabirds. You might even see a kingfisher or a sea eagle.

Please take note of the following "rules" on the dog beaches:

  • Dogs must be kept on the leash in woods, nature sanctuaries and in villages.
  • You can walk with your dog on any beach from October 1 until April. Dogs must be kept on the leash here.
  • At other times we would ask you to respect the "Dog Beach" signs.
  • Your dog can swim and romp on the signposted dog beaches even in the summer.
  • Please do not take your dog over other areas of the beach.

We hope for your appreciation and wish you and your dog a lot of fun - also when swimming in the Baltic.
